How was The Grid of Giving developed?
This idea combines a number of my passions. One of my greatest driving forces is to CREATE.
As an artist, I need to be creating in order to feel whole. I also feel a great desire to give back to my community and support those in need.
We live a community of amazing organizations and people who work hard every day to help take care of each other. I’ve often asked myself,
“How can my artwork help?”
I’ve donated pieces to silent auctions for years, but it seemed to lack the interactive piece of contributing that excites me when I give to nonprofits.
So, a question was born.
"How can I create something that moves people, includes people, and helps contribute to this community?"
One day, after working on some of my favorite little paintings, the answer came. The Grid of Giving!
I began to design a big grid comprised of a collection of tiny pieces of art that are created from that deep passion of mine. It is my hope that these images not only inspire the viewer on a personal level but that they can also work to support the community. The grid can be set up at a nonprofit event as an interactive way to support an organization, while providing guests with artwork and an interactive experience that inspires and makes direct connections to the cause.
How does The Grid of Giving work?
1. The Grid of Giving is a large canvas which holds 100 small 3"x3" pieces of artwork. Using my inventory of images, I create a custom design of 100 pieces for each event. I will provide the art work and set-up at no cost to the organization.
2. As guests at the event approach the Grid, they have an opportunity to choose pieces that speak to them and remove them from the grid. Each piece requires a minimum donation of $20. 50% of the proceeds from pieces sold go directly to the organization. The Grid has the potential to make $1000 at each event if all 100 pieces are purchased. Guests also have a chance to win raffle prizes if the piece they choose reveals a "lucky star."
3. Guests can then bring home their pieces and begin building their own Grid of Giving Collection where they can proudly display their choices from prior events.❤
I look forward with gratitude and excitement to watching this project evolve!
