Maggie Davenport is an artist, intuitive arts facilitator & creative coach who currently lives and works in Sarasota Florida. She graduated as an honors student from ringling college of art and design in 1999 receiving a bfa with an emphasis on painting. Her work as a facilitator and creative guide encourages play, freedom of expression, and exploring and getting comfortable with the process of creating before considering the finished product. She specializes in helping people to cultivate and use their creative intuition to get unstuck whether in their own creative process or within the creative process of living. Maggie works one on one with individuals and also facilitates groups and collaborative experiences. she prides herself on creating a welcoming, supportive, fun and expansive environment as she assists artists and non artists alike.
Artist's statement
As an artist, I simply satisfy my need and desire to create. There is little thought, little planning, little conceptualization. I simply allow what comes. When I get into the flow while creating, there is total freedom. My artwork is me creating exactly what I want to create. It is my truth. As an artist, I love the feel of the brush making marks. I love the potential of a new piece. Its whisperings to me just before it emerges. I love the absolute magic that happens when colors get mixed and played off of each other; as if in a dance to a specific song. I love the composing of space, the shifts that happen as the piece emerges, as it finds its way into the world. And when the process slows down and the song quiets, I love the ritual of applying the final decorations. The glitter and gold and the top coat that makes the color pop and simultaneously protects and seals the finished piece as if to say “thank you” and “goodnight.” Creating brings me great joy. It is my hope that as the viewer, you are moved in some way. That by seeing this work, you connect to something within yourself.
